AIR-K

Steel profiles with thermal insulation features for heat-insulated windows and doors

The AIR-K system is supplied by the U-KEG Group and it is aimed at making steel profile for heat-insulated windows and doors, made entirely in 2 mm thick sheet steel, without materials similar to plastic compromising the stability of profiles. The slotted profiles are 60 mm deep and the width is between 10 mm and 50 mm; they are closed tubular profiles welded continuously, in Sendzimir galvanized steel or Cor-Ten steel. A double set of rectangular slots offset lengthways reduces heat dispersion and maintains very high mechanical strength. The extreme mechanical sturdiness of the steel and the carefully chosen series of accessories allow the creation of windows and doors characterized by large dimensions, with limited frames left visible. The “closed joint” construction system forms excellent water and air barrier. The sturdiness of the profiles allows high safety performances against extreme atmospheric events, guaranteeing the required high levels of heat and sound insulation and safety. The profile, thanks to the perfect flatness and precision and the thickness of 2 mm, ensures ease and speed in welding and cutting operations. The use in the steel profiles of removable silicone gaskets makes the system easily recyclable and eco-friendly.

CONFIGURATIONS

Complanar Layout

The line of the leaf profile and that of the case profile are both located along the same direction. There are no recesses or protrusions. This layout stands out for clean lines, simplicity, and for a modern and minimal style.

Overlapping Layout

The ideal line describing the leaf profile is external to the line that ideally passes through the case profile. The overlapping layout of this configuration recalls the typical industrial factories casements, or those of some historical buildings. This layout is suitable for renovations and replacement works of old iron window profiles, taking advantage of new profiles increasing thermal and acoustic insulation, but maintaining the same aesthetics.

AIR-K References

UKEG provides you with support, so that you can get the most out of your building project, both in terms of maximum thermal and acoustic insulation efficiency, design, and aesthetic research. Here below, some references of projects in which the Air-k system has been used for steel windows and doors.

Private house in the Villa di Teolo (Padova, Italy)

In the renovation project of a historic villa at the foot of the Euganean Hills (Padua) and the park of the estate, a winter garden was created housing a living area in direct contact with the residential spaces on the ground floor of the villa. Respecting the original vocation of the greenhouse, it offers shelter for plants. The new structure was made entirely with steel profiles, characterized in the elevation view by a very small profile left in sight. The result is a formal reinterpretation of the typical window frame of nineteenth-century greenhouses, ensuring the thermal insulation prerogatives required by current standards. On the main front of the greenhouse, a large folding door allows, once opened, to put the spaces of the winter garden in direct contact with the park. The thermal break profiles used in this project belong to the Air-K series.
