Thermal insulation

AIR-K PLUS

Steel profiles with thermal insulation features and additional insulating core for heat-insulated windows and doors
Profili a interruzione del ponte termico

The AIR-K Plus system is supplied by the U-KEG Group and it is aimed at making steel profile for heat-insulated windows and doors, made entirely in 2 mm thick sheet steel, with PUR insulating core. The slotted profiles are 60 mm deep and the width is between 10 mm and 50 mm; they are closed tubular steel profiles welded continuously. A double set of rectangular slots offset lengthways – allowing the convective air flow- reduces heat dispersion and maintains very high mechanical strength. The extreme mechanical sturdiness of the steel and the carefully chosen series of accessories allow the creation of windows and doors characterized by large dimensions, with limited frames left visible. The “closed joint” construction system forms excellent water and air barrier. The sturdiness of the profiles allows high safety performances against extreme atmospheric events, guaranteeing the required high levels of heat and sound insulation and safety. The profile, thanks to the perfect flatness and precision and the thickness of 2 mm, ensures ease and speed in welding and cutting operations. The use in the steel profiles of removable silicone gaskets makes the system easily recyclable and eco-friendly.

CONFIGURATIONS

Complanar Layout

The line of the leaf profile and that of the case profile are both located along the same direction. There are no recesses or protrusions. This layout stands out for clean lines, simplicity, and for a modern and minimal style.

Overlapping Layout

The ideal line describing the leaf profile is external to the line that ideally passes through the case profile. The overlapping layout of this configuration recalls the typical industrial factories casements, or those of some historical buildings. This layout is suitable for renovations and replacement works of old iron window profiles, taking advantage of new profiles increasing thermal and acoustic insulation, but maintaining the same aesthetics.

UKEG provides you with support, so that you can get the most out of your building project, both in terms of maximum thermal and acoustic insulation efficiency, design, and aesthetic research. Here below, some references of projects in which the Air-k Plus system has been used for steel windows and doors.

Staithe Barn Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk (UK)

The large traditional house, the subject of this restoration, is located along the scenic “Norfolk Coast Path” nature trail.

Norfolk is a rural and naturalistic region in East Anglia in England, its northern and eastern boundaries face the North Sea. The Norfolk Coast is rife with gorgeous walking spots that take in some of the best views in the country. Often described as a mini paradise, the landscape of the Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve is a continuingly changing vegetation of dunes, salt marsh, mudflats, and shingle.

And it is precisely this enchanting landscape that is framed by the large windows in the elevations of the house. The windows’ steel frames are very small for the size in sight, leaving more space for the large glass parts.
