Given the intrinsic features of slenderness, safety and strength of steel, it is the best possible material for constructing window and doorframes, made from cold formed, drawn or profiled tubes. UKEG mainly uses continuously welded tubular profiles for its frames, in ready to use materials or that can be painted. Usually the profiles are supplied rough, with a temporary layer of protective oil outside, and require rigorous pickling – chemical degreasing using acid or alkaline solutions – before they can be used further, and also accurate drying. The grip of the coat of paint mainly depends on how well the surfaces are prepared. Various types of synthetic, powder or heat lacquer paints can be used. In the case of oven cooking at more than 100°C, degassing is required for galvanized, electrogalvanized and hot galvanized tubular profiles. Furthermore, right from the start tubes made in the same way must be used, as this precaution means the user does not have to carry out different surface treatments on the same construction element.
